in terms of janky-sounding stuff, i've been digging
joshua burkett's "gold cosmos" (cd just credited to
joshua). one of the tower recordings dudes. parts are
very jandek; "look floating" has a vibe very similar
to "chair beside a window"-era stuff then breaks into
a sax part that sounds eerily like eno's "fat lady of
limbourg". really strange.

bastard wings's "crystal thicket" (christina
carter/andrew macgregor project; sounds exactly like a
cross between charalambides and gown, as you might
expect from those two.)

arrington de dionyso's "breath of fire" (throat
singing and dolphy-style bass clarinet)

and glancing at the pile: robert wyatt, bobby conn,
fela kuti, no doctors, man of magma, velvet cacoon,
paul metzger, scott walker, burning star core, yma
sumac (78s at 33 rpm, creepy!), sparks, arthur brown,
current 93, lurker of chalice, thin white rope, sun
city girls, donovan, sick hour, lungfish, mirrors...
and KISS.
