This happened in Toronto too;  I've never been to a show where the  
artist walked out, and you could hear a pin drop.

I'm in the midst of editing the Toronto concert/DVD;  and thinking of  
how much of that uncomfortable silence should be in the cut.   Right  
now thinking that the stage should remain empty until you just start  
getting fidgety....
