Definitely! I've thought this for a while, and said so in the article I
wrote on outsider music for Masstransfer magazine (issue #6), which
included about half a page on Jandek.
I noticed that Tim mentioned Low's cover of "Carnival Queen" -- you can
grab that one from the Low box set that's just come out (it's on Disc 3).
Definitely worth picking up.
On a related note: not to overdo the plugging-Masstransfer thing here, but
I interviewed Alan Sparhawk for the latest issue (#7, which should be out
in a month or so), and one of the things we talked about was Jandek, of
whom Alan spoke quite highly. Low's _Songs for a Dead Pilot_ EP is the
only record I've ever heard with the same claustrophobic, awake-at-4-a.m.
(as someone so aptly put it) quality that I hear in (for instance) _Ready
for the House_ -- I think there's a real connection there, and I highly
recommend that EP (on Kranky) to any list members who haven't checked it
out already, especially the track "Born by the Wires".
