[Jandek] Re: wfmu Jandek auction

Chusid's shtick has always been that Jandek is crazy (even in the face of
the politeness and respect with which Chusid's been treated by the man), and
anyone who listens to him is crazy, pretentious, or an idiot. Now that
Jandek is being taken seriously by concert goers, musicians and promoters,
that's getting very old indeed.

Chusid's attitude to the "outsider music" he's built his career on is
condescending and devoid of real appreciation or emotional engagement. His
writing displays ghoulish fascination in his subjects and ignorance about
music, and is happy to be cruel for cheap laughs - Syd Barrett was "the
Elvis of the strait-jacket set", if I remember correctly. I first heard of
Jandek via Chusid, but that doesn't excuse his vileness.

That said, that auction is to benefit WFMU, not Chusid.
