Review of Raining Down Diamonds by Stewart Lee in today's Sunday Times
(UK/Irl).
 "Jandek started releasing his own albums in 1978. This is his 42nd. Not a
single track from any of them is available to download on iTunes. Jandek
usually accompanies himself on guitar, untroubled by tuning, while intoning
funereal declarations in a mournful voice. The effect is mesmerising and
distressing. Here, he eschews his usual twangy scrabblings for a bashed
bass. The determinedly anonymous Texan played his first live gig ever last
year, unbilled, in Glasgow. He will play again in Glasgow's the Arches on
Friday, and in London's St Giles-in-the-Fields on October 18. Some consider
him a genius; others assume his oeuvre is as elaborate joke. You decide. (3
