what a lot of people fail to understand is that a live performance is 
just that.  that's all you've paid for.  you don't automatically have 
the right to take pictures or audio or video.  usually such things 
are done on the sly or management and artists look the other way or 
don't care.  but in most situations people do care.  when an artist 
is in the position to be exploited, they themselves have first crack 
at doing the exploiting, i.e. live documents.

as far as not making noise, that's been requested of several 
audiences for live albums of original material (e.g.  joe jackson's 
'big world', the last throbbing gristle recording session/show). 
they're trying to capture their performance, not necessarily the 
sound of the people who were there.

given jandek's penchant for creating a hermetically sealed world for 
the past 27 years, i'd say this show and the rules surrounding it 
sound par for the course.  except for maybe playing the piano and 
singing in tune. ; )
